Protestant Theology & Catholic Doctrines
Exposed to cover & discover the “Naked Truth“... Catholic responses to the Booklet: “Answers to my Catholic Friends” by Thomas F. Heinze part 4
A Catholic reply to Protestant “[mis]- Understandings” Part 4
FRIENDS, I am prefacing this section with a brief “How to Understand the Bible Lesson”
“What Is The Most Important Difference Between Protestants and Catholics?”
John 15: 26-27 SETS UP WHO CHRIST IS SPEAKING TOO IN JOHN 16:12-15 …
“But when the Counselor comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father,
even the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness to me;
and you also are witnesses, because you have been with me from the beginning“. ..
John 16: 12-15 "I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
When the Spirit of truth comes,
he will guide you into all the truth;
[Christ hear is speaking to the Apostles and through THEM to today’s CC] singular
not to any other group -- or bible teacher !!!
for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me,
for he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
“ THIS IS FULFILLED IN JOHN 20:21-22
Isa.29: 16 ” You turn things upside down! Shall the potter be regarded as the clay; that the thing made should say of its maker, "He did not make me"; or the thing formed say of him who formed it, "He has no understanding"?… Isa.45: 9 "Woe to him who strives with his Maker, an earthen vessel with the potter! … Does the clay say to him who fashions it, `What are you making'? or `Your work has no handles'?” … Isa.64: 8 “Yet, O LORD, thou art our Father; we are the clay, and thou art our potter; we are all the work of thy hand.”
It is a fact that God, in order to be God; must be good; and must make available to every soul at least sufficient grace that they MIGHT know Him. …“Might” in this application means it is up to us to accept and correctly apply it.
Isa.43 Verses 7and 21: “every one who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made." AND the people whom I formed for myself that they might declare my praise.”
Jer.5: 3 “O LORD, do not thy eyes look for truth? Thou hast smitten them, but they felt no anguish; thou hast consumed them, but they refused to take correction. They have made their faces harder than rock; they have refused to repent.”
4Ezra.9: 11 “and as many as scorned my law while they still had freedom, and did not understand but despised it while an opportunity of repentance was still open to them,”
Mark.1: 4, 15: “John the baptizer appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. …and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe in the gospel."
I will share all of the key points and teachings of our friend Thomas, but only respond [and then briefly], to but a few of his thoughts.
Then I will share what the Catholic Church [and therefore God Himself] teaches is absolutely necessary for ones personal salvation;
fully supported by the bible, because this is what Christ Himself demands.
It really is a “take it or leave it proposition.”
1. [A Direct quote] “We cannot merit salvation.. ‘cursed is he who does not abide by EVERYTHING [my emphasis] written in the book of the law‘ ”
Gal.3:10 “God ask us to abide by “everything” NOT to be better than others.
If my friends, this is actually understood and accepted; why then is it time after time disobeyed?
Ignored?
Or denied by the very ones making the proclamation?
Mark 1: 15 “and saying
, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand
; repent, and believe in the gospel."
